TheFly Fishing Film Tour 2026 is coming back to Australia, and this year there’s a stop right here on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
OnWednesday 16 September 2026, the Fly Fishing Film Tour — better known asF3T — will screen atGlen Street Theatre on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, kicking off at7:00pm.
For us at Norfolk Wild, this is exactly the sort of event we want to see more of.
A room full of anglers, outdoors people, filmmakers, mates and probably a few people who have been thinking about getting into fly fishing but haven’t quite taken the leap yet.
And, most importantly, a few hours watching some of the best fly fishing films from around the world on a proper cinema screen.
What is the Fly Fishing Film Tour?
TheFly Fishing Film Tour, orF3T, is one of the biggest annual fly fishing film events in the world.
2026 marks the20th anniversary of the Fly Fishing Film Tour, with the tour visiting more than 14 countries and hosting over 300 screenings worldwide.
Each year, the tour brings together a collection of films built around fly fishing, adventure, travel and wild places.
There are big fish, remote rivers and destinations most of us would happily empty the annual leave balance to visit.
But the best fly fishing films are rarely just about catching fish.
They’re about the places fishing takes you.
The people you meet.
The long drives.
Bad weather.
Good camps.
Early mornings.
And the questionable amount of time grown adults are willing to spend trying to convince a fish to eat something made from feathers and thread.
That’s why the Fly Fishing Film Tour has become such a good night even for people who aren't completely obsessed with fly fishing.
Yet.

Norfolk Wild will be getting behind the Northern Beaches screening and helping bring the local fishing and outdoor community together for the night.
If you fish the Northern Beaches, chase trout around NSW, travel further north for those Salt Water Dogs, spend weekends travelling with a fly rod in the car or simply love stories about wild places, we reckon you'll enjoy it.
Why Norfolk Wild is Getting Behind the Fly Fishing Film Tour
Norfolk Wild grew out of a pretty simple idea.
We like being outside.
Fishing, hunting, camping, travelling and generally finding reasons to get away from town for a while.
Fly fishing fits into that perfectly.
For us, it has never really been about owning the best gear or knowing everything there is to know about entomology.
It's about where it takes you.
A fly rod gives you a reason to explore another river.
To walk another kilometre.
To get up before sunrise.
To drive over the hill just to see what's on the other side.
And sometimes, if everything comes together, you even catch a fish.
One of the things we’re particularly passionate about at Norfolk Wild ishelping grow the fly fishing community in Australia.
There are some incredible anglers in this country and some extraordinary fishing, but it can still feel like a relatively small community.
We want more people getting involved.
More beginners picking up a fly rod.
More young anglers.
More people sharing knowledge rather than guarding it.
And more nights where everyone can get together, have a beer and talk fishing.
The Fly Fishing Film Tour is a pretty good way to do exactly that.
You Don't Have to Be a Fly Fisherman
One of the good things about F3T is that you don't need twenty years of fly fishing experience to enjoy it.
You don't actually need any.
If you like fishing, camping, travel, adventure, filmmaking or spending time outdoors, there's a fair chance you'll walk out wanting to pick up a fly rod.
And if you're already a fly fisherman, you'll probably walk out wanting to sell everything you own and book a trip somewhere ridiculous.
Neither outcome is necessarily a bad thing.
The Northern Beaches has a huge community built around fishing, surfing and the outdoors, so we're hoping the Glen Street screening becomes more than just another night at the movies.
We want it to be a proper local fly fishing night.
Bring your fishing mates.
Bring the mate who's always asking how fly fishing works.
Bring the bloke who owns four fly rods but somehow never seems to actually go fishing.

Fly Fishing on Sydney’s Northern Beaches
The Northern Beaches probably isn't the first place that comes to mind when someone mentions Australian fly fishing.
There aren't exactly brown trout sipping mayflies behind Narrabeen Beach.
But there's a strong fishing culture here.
And increasingly, anglers are realising a fly rod isn't restricted to trout streams.
Australian fly fishing can mean chasing trout through the Snowy Mountains one weekend and throwing flies at saltwater species around Sydney the next.
That's part of what makes the sport so interesting.
There's always something else to learn.
And there's always another fish that can make you look completely incompetent.
